Nice mini-doc about an interesting evolution in music. Straight from the future.

Underworld
Underworld’s originating members Karl Hyde and Rick Smith are part of a high-end design collective/commercial house that many on surfstation will know... Tomato. with a penchant for typography and avant-digital layouts, they were so much more than nocturnal nob-twirlers. even the titles of their albums are subtle tells of a band set apart from their genre. they made it look easy. writing hooks was always effortless for them. forget the classy, cheese-free stadium dance party siren call from their massive hit Cowgirl… just think back to the global sound meme they created when asked to write a track for Trainspotting.
i've uploaded one of their more subtle compositions and a favorite of mine for creative sessions. and long solitary drives. Beautiful Burnout…

Tycho at the Echoplex
Given how many of you know Scott Hansen and the IS050 blog... I thought you'd be interested in this concert review from his (and Shigeto's) show that Jesse Cinis and I saw last week. Something beautiful is (always) happening in the Bay...

My relationship with my muse is a delicate one at the best of times and I feel that it is my duty to protect her from influences that may offend her fragile nature. She comes to me with the gift of music and in return I treat her with the respect I feel she deserves — in this case this means not subjecting her to the indignities of judgement and competition. I am in competition with no one.

Lykke Li @ the Greek (review)
she comes like the widow enchantress, shrouded in black veils and cloistered in rays of light. her voice shudders with low pitches as the invocation proceeds, washing like waves of longing over the crowd...
the beat hits, the lights spray and she pulls back her cover, revealing that gorgeous face and lithe, catwalk body… strutting across the stage, for a moment, like a feline Jagger incarnate.

Initiation
Fragments of memory are constantly interfering among each other. Human mind is constantly intending to make an order from all the things stored inside. Inner combining of memories and inspirations is one way to start a creative process.

beatlab - make music together
Beatlab is the easiest way to create music and share it with your friends.Create music using a simple expressive interface that requires no knowledge of music theory or instruments. You can start from scratch, or remix the musical ideas of others.
You can share your finished tracks privately with friends, or share them with the world to listen and remix. Or you can download your tracks into an MP3 file to put on your iPod or make into a ringtone.
Music is composed using a simple grid based sound sequencer. The columns of the grid represent time and the rows represents sounds. Clicking a position on the grid will enable a sound at that point in time. Multiple people can contribute to a single track, each with their own assigned color on the grid.
