"The Birthday Party" by Vee Speers

post_4351-450x272.jpg

Australian-born, Parisienne photographer Vee Speer's, has created a beautiful and grotesque series of photos entitled "The Birthday Party", that depict small children in very adult-roles and who's inspiration was derived by the birthday of her own daughter.

Mary Rozzi

"Mary, your work is gorgeous." –Annie Leibovitz

Mary's work to me really almost defines the trend of current popular photography. While she is clearly capable of creating beautiful lush beauty and fashion photography, her high-end snapshot style, to me, is what really stands out. Josef Schulz - Exhibition "Sign Out"

post_4315-450x339.jpg

Today, long after the appropriation of the land came to an end, there is a particular magic to the highways, the magic of departure, like one of these mirages which shimmer above the road surface in the summer. What has been lost is the notion that one’s own existence has to be wrested from a plot of land and is, as such, the result of years of hard work. The giant billboards alongside the road announce the great (not just American) short circuit. They scream at the non-searcher: The gates of paradise lie just beyond the next exit. Redemption is available for every traveller who has money. Shopping malls, motels, restaurants, banks beckon and nobody has to revert back to being a settler in the suburban spaces hostile to man.

Canon 5D and 7D Tests at Skywalker Ranch

UK filmmaker and director Philip Bloom took his new toys to George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch and shot some tests. I think those of you lucky enough to have one of the new Canon's will enjoy. Per the photog's notes: Filmed at Skywalker Ranch on the Canon 5DmkII conformed to 24p and the Canon 7D shooting native 24p. Timelapse done using stills. New Glidetrack shooter used for dolly moves.

You pretty much need to love Terry Richardson. Really. Everyone else does so why be late to the party?
