Love the stuff these guys are working on. Reminds me of me.
VSCO Cam & New Site
Hey Surfstation! We've just launched an iPhone camera app called VSCO Cam that is both minimal and beautiful with filters that aren't overdone or over the top. Would love for you to check it out as well as our new site. Thanks!

Descriptive Camera
The Descriptive Camera works a lot like a regular camera—point it at subject and press the shutter button to capture the scene. However, instead of producing an image, this prototype outputs a text description of the scene. Modern digital cameras capture gobs of parsable metadata about photos such as the camera's settings, the location of the photo, the date, and time, but they don't output any information about the content of the photo. The Descriptive Camera only outputs the metadata about the content.

Defaced Candidates, French Presidential Elections 2012
French photographer Pascal Fellonneau's project to document the "defaced" election posters during this year's election. I love this in principle; I'd almost love to see all the different ways that a single image was altered.
"Uprising" photography show in Venice, CA
For those of you in Los Angeles, I highly recommend putting this show on your calendars.
"Uprising Los Angeles" will be opening at SPARC Gallery in Venice (685 Venice Blvd, 90291) on April 28th, 2012 from 6-9pm and will feature large-scale photo collages of the LA Riots (1992) created by Christine Burrill.
For those unfamiliar with Christine, her work is extraordinary and she's been creating these pieces for decades. (Not to mention that one of her pieces is the centerpiece of my living room.)

Flesh Love: Vacuum Sealed Couples
Japanese artist "Photographer Hal" photographs couples after vacuum sealing them in futon cases. Just a little something for all of you on Valentines day.
If you really like the work, he is also offering an iBook of the exhibit.

Astronaut Suicides
In 1961 the US pledged to send man to the moon. In 2010 the Constellation Program, meant to return man to the moon, was ended. This is the aftermath.
Portland based photographer Neil DaCosta and art director Sara Phillips say good-bye to the space shuttle program with this beautiful series of astronauts committing suicide.

Therese + Joel
Really engaging, evocative, black and white portraits can be found here.

Nathan Presley
Nathan is a multi-talented photographer and in his portfolio you'll find incredible atmospheric and travel photography, but some of my favorites are his lifestyle/natural light shots. Check him out.
